"Music is the universal language of mankind." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Music is an integral part of school life at Fane Street Primary School and builds confidence, creativity and teamwork through music-making.  Music is taught weekly to all year groups, with a focus on the 3 key curriculum requirements of working creatively with sound, singing and performing with simple instruments, and listening to and responding to their own and others’ music-making.

Music also plays a central role in many of our whole school programmes, including Nurture in 5, Primary Movement, and music and movement activities.  Each year, several classes participate in Music Makers, which involves singing and performing with other schools.  We have a range of percussion instruments available in school, and children particularly enjoy playing our set of African drums.

Children can also participate in the school choir which performs at special assemblies and special events throughout the school year.
