The partnership between school and home is vital in ensuring that we work together in the best interests of our children. Parents are involved in the life of the school in many different ways. Have a look at some of the information pages in the parents' section to find out more about what is happening in Fane Street.
Our Parent Worker is Paula and she has meetings for parents every Tuesday morning in the school. These meetings are very relaxed and informal, covering a range of topics and activities which are decided on by the parents. Topics might include cookery, health, how to help your children with homework, help with filling in forms and even practical workshops on learning how to paint and decorate, carry out some basic DIY or change a plug! There is always a cup of tea/coffee and an opportunity to have a chat with others.
We have some classes for Newcomer Parents to help with learning English on Tuesdays. Our Parent and Toddler Group run by SureStart is on every Wednesday morning in the school, at 10.45am. Please ask at reception for more details.
The FAST (Families And Schools Together) Programme, devised by Save the Children has been a very successful initiative in the school. We have had around 40 families coming each week to spend time together as a family doing some fun things. The next FAST programme is due to start at the end of March, more details will follow closer to the time.
